V. Gerard Comizio joined Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson as a partner in the Corporate Department. He will head the firm’s Banking Practice and will be based in the Washington, D.C. office.

Comizio has experience in advising banking clients on a range of transaction, regulatory and compliance matters. He will continue to advise clients on areas of the Dodd-Frank Act, BSA/OFAC and other anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism laws and mergers and acquisitions.

Most recently, Comizio was the chair of the Global Banking and Payment Systems practice at Paul Hastings, which he joined after practicing at another corporate law firm for 13 years.

Comizio has also served as acting general counsel and deputy general counsel of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Thrift Supervision and director of its Corporate and Securities Division during the savings and loan crisis, as well as a former senior attorney in the Division of Corporation Finance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
