Clarus Capital hired Matt Worman as managing director and head of direct investment origination. In this role, Worman will lead the firm’s business development activities and have responsibility for generating new financing opportunities with mid-sized companies, private equity owned firms and other centers of influence. Worman will be located in the firm’s Cleveland office.

Worman has more than 20 years of experience sourcing and structuring equipment financings for middle-market organizations. Prior to joining Clarus Capital, he was a managing director at Utica Equipment Finance, where he was responsible for originating and executing equipment financings as a senior member of the direct originations group. Prior to that, Worman worked for Radius Equipment Finance, which was acquired from NewStar Equipment Finance, where he was responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships throughout the United States. Previously, Worman held senior business development roles at Nations Equipment Finance and First National Capital.

“I have known Matt for many years, and we are excited to have him join our team,” Steve O’Leary, CEO of Clarus Capital, said. “Matt has a proven track record of performance and a deep understanding of our equipment finance products, customers and target markets. He is a client-focused professional with long-standing relationships and will have an immediate impact on the success of our business.”

“I am thrilled to join the Clarus Capital team and look forward to building and leading its direct origination franchise,” Worman said. “I was drawn to the opportunity given the team’s legacy of success and its culture of excellence. I look forward to working with a best-in-class investment team to deliver thoughtful equipment financing solutions to our broad client base.”
