CIT Group Inc. announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) J. Hart as executive vice president, Internal Audit effective immediately. He will report directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Hart will be responsible for conducting a continuous risk assessment of CIT, while executing an audit plan as approved by the Audit Committee. In addition, he will work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audit activities throughout the organization and ensure the company’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and anti-fraud compliance related issues.

Hart joined CIT in July 2011 as senior vice president of Internal Audit with responsibility for risk assessment and internal audit of the company’s Treasury, Credit and Market Risk, Compliance, Finance and Human Resources departments. He served in this capacity until December 2011, when he was appointed interim chief auditor. Previously, Hart was a director and regional auditor for the Americas at Barclays Capital. Prior to that, he was a managing director of Internal Audit for the Americas at Deutsche Bank. He also was an Internal Audit deputy director at JP Morgan and a Manager at Ernst & Young.
