Union Bank appointed Brian Mulvaney managing director and regional manager for Commercial Banking’s Middle Market and Business Banking activities in Orange County. He replaced Kjell Gronvold, who will retire on November 30.

Mulvaney will be based in Irvine, CA and report to Scott Connella, managing director and Commercial Banking Market president for Southern California. He will execute all aspects of the bank’s strategy to deliver a broad spectrum of commercial credit products to privately held, private-equity-owned and public companies with annual revenues between $10 million and $1 billion.

“We are very excited to welcome Brian to Union Bank’s Commercial Banking team,” Connella said. “There is absolutely no doubt that Brian’s deep familiarity with [Orange County’s] market and his demonstrated success at serving the needs of its commercial banking clients will further reinforce our ongoing commitment to deliver an excellent experience to this important segment.”

A 25-year industry veteran, Mulvaney came to Union Bank from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he served as market manager for Orange County Global Commercial Banking – Middle Market. He also had prior investment banking experience with several Orange County and Los Angeles-based firms.

MUFG Union Bank operates retail banking branches throughout the West Coast, along with commercial branches in Texas, Illinois, New York and Georgia.
