Leslie A. Berkoff, a partner of Moritt Hock & Hamroff, was selected by Long Island Business News as a member of the 2013 class of Long Island’s Top Leadership In Law.

The awards are dedicated to individuals whose leadership, both in the legal profession and in the community, has had a positive-and lasting-impact on Long Island.

Berkoff serves as chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy practice group. She concentrates her practice in the area of bankruptcy and restructuring litigation and corporate workouts, and she represents a variety of corporate debtors, trustees, creditors and creditor committees both nationally and locally.

Berkoff is co-Chair of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation’s (IWIRC) Advisory Council. From 2004-2008 she served as Chair of IWIRC, in addition to serving on its board of directors for more than 15 years. She also served as co-chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Healthcare Insolvency Committee from April 2008-2011 and is an active member of the Mediation and Healthcare Committees.

Berkoff was co-editor of the ABI’s Healthcare Bankruptcy Manual, Third Edition.

In addition to her practice, Berkoff frequently serves as a mediator, and is on the Mediation Panel for the Eastern and Southern Districts of the United States Bankruptcy Courts in New York and the United States Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, as well as the Commercial Mediation Panel for Nassau County. She also serves on the Board of Editors of Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law . Berkoff earned her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
