Bank of the West announced that Harry Yergey has joined the bank as managing director in the Commercial Banking Group. In this capacity, Yergey will manage the team focused on driving Bank of the West’s increased presence in New York and the Northeast by delivering comprehensive solutions essential to growing businesses, including lending, equipment finance, cash management, and global trade services. The team will work with companies to deliver the Bank’s leading domestic financial solutions, as well as access to BNP Paribas’s international network.

With more than 27 years of experience, Yergey has worked across all aspects of bank management and business development. Prior to joining Bank of the West, Yergey served as executive vice president overseeing North America and part of the management team at Commerzbank, AG in New York. Previously, Yergey was head of Commerzbank’s London branch with business responsibility for most Western European corporate clients, ranging from large corporate multinationals to small and mid-sized companies.

“We are pleased that Harry and his vast experience in international banking are now supporting our clients,” said John C. Thurston, managing director, Bank of the West’s Commercial Banking Group. “Our efforts on the east coast are part of our continued focus on meeting the needs of our increasingly sophisticated international client base located in markets across the U.S.”

With Yergey’s assistance, the team will strengthen its emphasis on relationship banking with middle market and mid-corporate clients throughout the region. By combining the highly responsive, personalized services of local, relationship-based bankers with access to the international resources and reach of BNP Paribas, the team will share expertise with clients in a variety of sectors, including technology, food and beverage, and health care.
