Bloomberg reported that John Angelo, co-founder of Angelo, Gordon died on January 1 at age 74.

Angelo had a long battle with cancer prior to his death, Bloomberg reported, according to an email statement from Michael Gordon, co-founder of the company.

After 18 years with L.F. Rothschild, Angelo started the company with Gordon in 1988. The firm currently manages approximately $27 billion and specializes in convertible securities, options, futures and distressed securities, according to Angelo, Gordon’s website.
