Alvarez & Marsal appointed Hameer Vaid a senior director in the firm’s private equity performance improvement group in New York. With close to 15 years of experience working with private equity investors, Vaid’s focus on real estate will expand A&M’s capability to service clients throughout the real estate investment cycle.

Vaid has partnered with a variety of institutional investors seeking private equity real estate investments from strategy through financing, acquisitions, asset management and strategic disposition. He has participated in and advised on deal flow across real estate asset classes, including office, multi-family, industrial, retail and hospitality. His areas of concentration are acquisitions and dispositions, investment and asset management, development, valuation, finance operations, and real estate digital.

Vaid’s notable global scale assignments include:

  • Participating in a series of real estate fund, joint-venture and direct investment transactions, both on the buy and sell side
  • Advising a large international pension fund on build-to-core investment thesis and acquisition of a multi-million-dollar direct U.S. real estate transaction in the Greater New York area
  • Providing complex advisory services to an investors committee by identifying $70 million in potential cash flows and $40 million in unrealized present value across 270 real estate investment positions within the portfolio
  • Deploying platform company creation and consolidation strategies for a real estate private equity manager
  • Leading assessments to optimize front office operating models, cost takeout and EBITDA improvement opportunities for large, mid and small cap financial institutions

Before joining A&M, Vaid spent six years with PwC’s real estate advisory practice in New York. He led engagements covering strategy, operations and digital initiatives for asset and wealth management sector clients. Prior to that, he served 10 years as a senior vice president of asset management with Urban American, a real estate private equity firm in the Greater New York area, and two years as an associate with GE Capital’s wealth income management group.
