Alvarez & Marsal enhanced its Atlanta offerings with the addition of Mark Trivette and Paras Motiram, who join as managing director and senior director, respectively.

Trivette brings more than 30 years of technical experience in U.S. and foreign income taxation of corporations and their shareholders. Motiram specializes in advising real estate and private equity clients, with a focus on federal and multi-state taxation for partnership, real estate investment trust and corporate entities.

“Domestic and multinational companies walk a fine line as they try to best manage their tax liabilities in the face of increasing scrutiny and compliance requirements, as well as uncertainties concerning the evolution of tax policies,” said Ernie Perez, global practice leader of Alvarez & Marsal Taxand. “The appointments of Mark and Paras further our ability to provide clients with the resources they need, when they need them, in the face of complex and serious tax-related risks.”

Trivette has advised public and private clients in such sectors as consumer and industrial products, manufacturing and distribution, retail, technology, telecommunications, financial services, health care and energy. His primary areas of concentration include domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, divestitures, restructurings, reorganizations, investments and financings as well as tax controversy resolution, compliance and financial statement reporting.

Prior to joining A&M, Trivette served as vice president of Global Tax for a multi-billion dollar private equity sponsored infrastructure services company in the energy sector, where he was responsible for all aspects of tax administration. Prior to that, Trivette was a partner with Ernst & Young in the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services providing M&A tax due diligence, structuring and post-merger integration services to public and private clients in a variety of industries.

Previously, Motiram served as a tax manager in the real estate tax services group of PwC in Atlanta. With more than 10 years of flow-through and corporate tax experience, Motiram has advised real estate funds, public and private REITs, and private equity funds on such matters as compliance, partner capital account maintenance and foreign inbound investment withholding requirements. He has advised real estate clients across various sectors, including multi-family, mixed-use, retail, industrial and hospitality, as well as private equity clients involved in the consumer products, restaurant and consumer services sectors.
