Alvarez & Marsal expanded its Corporate Performance Improvement group on the West Coast with the hiring of Carlos Munoz as managing director in San Francisco.

The appointment of Munoz, who specializes in delivering finance transformation services to corporate CFOs, expands A&M’s West Coast offerings to clients.

Munoz, who has more than 27 years of finance and consulting experience, helps clients gain efficiencies and scale through process automation, changes to the operating model, cost optimization and data analytics. He also brings tremendous experience helping companies transition finance and technology functions in a post-merger environment where he has led numerous transformations to increase deal value.

Munoz’s appointment dovetails with a recent A&M study, “Tech Growth Focus Could Mask Risks,” which found that over the next 12 to 24 months more than twice as many tech executives foresee greater headwinds than tailwinds.

“As tech companies face greater uncertainty and increasing competition, the need for a coach and team who can help navigate the coming changes becomes critical,” said Joel O’Driscoll, managing director and leader of A&M’s Corporate Performance Improvement practice in the West Region. “A&M’s clients will benefit from Carlos’ wealth of expertise in technology and accelerating transformation of financial management, improving performance, reducing costs and creating value, elements that are critically important in navigating ongoing challenges.”

Prior to joining A&M, Munoz spent 22 years in Deloitte’s management consulting practice, including 13 years as a partner in finance and enterprise performance services. He also served as the Public Sector Finance practice leader and managing director of the San Francisco-Bay Area practice.
