Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) appointed managing director Aamer Hassan to its global transaction advisory group (TAG). Hassan, based in San Francisco and formerly with KPMG Deal Advisory, brings more than 16 years of public accounting experience, primarily advising software and technology industry clients on transaction-related concerns and value creation strategies. His hire demonstrates A&M’s commitment to private equity firms with significant software and technology portfolio companies, as well as those pursuing transactions within the sector.

Hassan joins A&M with a successful track record of building and scaling high performance teams to help private equity firms meet their objectives and navigate challenges across the deal and investment lifecycle. He provides due diligence services, mergers and acquisitions and IPO support, as well as broader advice to corporate clients and private equity firms. He leverages real-time, detailed transaction analytics to help clients optimize buy-side and sell-side valuations and decisions.

Over the course of his career, Hassan has advised on more than 200 M&A transactions, has worked in the UK, India and the U.S., and successfully led several complex cross-border transactions between the U.S., Europe, Asia-Pacific and South America. Additionally, Hassan has advised multiple Silicon Valley tech majors along with U.S., UK, EMEA and Asia-based technology-focused private equity firms on transactions and transaction-related matters.

“Aamer’s joining furthers our ability to support clients worldwide across the lifecycle of their software and technology deals,” Paul Aversano, managing director and global practice leader of the global transaction advisory group at A&M, said. “His industry sector expertise, alongside his M&A knowledge, bolsters our network of boots-on-the-ground professionals. Aamer’s experience aligns with A&M’s operational heritage and results driven mindset.”

“Aamer’s experience across the software, technology and services sectors, including SaaS, enterprise software and internet technologies, will deliver substantial value to our clients’ investment strategies within the sector,” Anthony Caporrino, global transaction advisory group managing director and U.S. practice leader at A&M, said. “Aamer’s broad perspective and his ability to build high performing teams enhances our role as a trusted investment advisor who can help clients maximize the value of every transaction and avoid post-transaction surprises.”

“A&M’s deep bench strength and innovative approach positions the global transaction advisory group to deliver high-quality solutions to software and technology sector clients concurrent with the significant PE funding targeting the sector,” Hassan said. “The firm’s global footprint and cross-border expertise dovetails with investors who are increasingly embracing opportunities across the globe for value creation.”
