Global professional services firm, Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), appointed Cindy Finkelman and Joe Melfi as New York-based managing directors in the firm’s corporate performance improvement (CPI) practice. Their hires further align A&M’s operational heritage with its ability to solve for the innovation and management challenges that companies face while undergoing enterprise-wide digital transformations to be competitive in today’s marketplace.

Finkelman specializes in helping clients achieve scale via enterprise-wide transformation, digital transformation of their products and services and enterprise risk management and cybersecurity solutions. She advises executives and boards on standing up business functions, aligning strategies and goals, driving process maturity and modernizing technologies.

Prior to joining A&M, Finkelman served as CIO at FactSet Research Systems, where she was responsible for internal technology strategy and delivery, the project management office where she oversaw numerous acquisition integrations, cybersecurity and enterprise risk management. Before FactSet, she was the CIO for New York Life’s corporate functions, responsible for all IT services and many transformational programs. She has also held digital and corporate infrastructure leadership roles at Merrill Lynch, Marsh & McLennan, Prudential, Booz Allen & Hamilton and MetLife.

Melfi is an operational veteran with a wide range of experience in global technology and business operations, IT infrastructure, Cloud transformation and outsourcing. He specializes in software as a service (SAAS), infrastructure as a service (IAAS) and information technology infrastructure library (ITIL). He has also worked across multiple sectors including finance, retail and technology.

Melfi joins A&M from PVH, where he served as executive vice president of global infrastructure and operations. In this role, he led the organization through transformational change, designing, planning and implementing tech solutions aimed at achieving growth and efficiency. Previously, he held similar technology leadership positions and transformation focused roles at Deutsche Bank, AIG, PGI and Instinet.

The addition of Finkelman and Melfi marks the next phase of A&M’s digital transformation capabilities and strategic growth plan, following on the recent hire of CPI managing director Barb Dawson.

“Cindy and Joe have deep expertise developing IT infrastructures and marshalling the talent needed to drive the strategy and execution of digital transformations,” Jean Hill, managing director and national solution leader for the digital & technology services team at A&M, said. “Their ability to guide clients through a tangled technology and organizational transformation landscape aligns with our commitment to maximizing value and our results-oriented mindset. Their collective experience complements our expanding team and furthers our ability to help clients drive change against the backdrop of ongoing volatility.”
