When I joined TMA more than 18 years ago, it was a pleasure to become a part of a community that was enthusiastic and connected and whose members collectively made each other better professionals. Today, I am honored to take the reins as this year’s president of TMA Global, standing at the center of an ever-growing, professionally diverse international restructuring organization.

For the turnaround and restructuring industry, this is shaping up to be a year of opportunity for TMA and our members. Under the leadership of our new CEO, Scott Y. Stuart, the organization is more forward-facing, more interactive, and more connected to its membership than ever before.

I am a big believer and supporter of all that TMA offers to its membership. It is my goal to ensure that TMA strives to offer better educational content and conference experiences, better leverages our unique advantage of being an organization of global membership, and becomes more engaged with our members and chapters.

TMA is an organization which boasts the most diverse professional demographics in the corporate renewal, restructuring, and corporate health space. It is growing more diverse every day, and we’re just getting started.

Enthusiasm. Vision. Leadership. Opportunity.

These are just a few key words that I associate with this new focus and direction for TMA. The year has already gotten off to a great start. Following strong attendance at the most recent Distressed Inventing Conference, we embarked on a mission to ensure all of our members know the long-term value of building their personal brand and professional network through TMA.

Just as importantly, we are striving to be a more forward-facing organization. Behind more proactive outreach efforts, we have focused attention on the power of TMA thought leadership and, as a result, worked to ensure that TMA members and leadership are sought out by industry-specific publications and general business media for comment on critical issues related to our industry segment.

In addition, you will find a more enhanced member experience, and an assurance that TMA will be ever more engaged with its members. One such example is the TMA Learning Link currently under development, which will allow 24/7, 365-day access to best-in-class content like conference videos, TMA’s official magazine, the Journal of Corporate Renewal, and the TMA Talks podcasts to name a few.

I hope this gives you an idea of both the value and importance of being part of TMA, and I encourage you to join and get involved today. Be part of the conversation. Engage by participating, contributing, and ensuring our collective success.

Looking forward, I encourage you to save the date for the 2019 TMA Annual to be held September 25-27 in Cleveland. For those of you that can appreciate the reference, all I can say is that everyone knows that CLEVELAND ROCKS!

We are expanding this year’s Annual to offer attendees more. By more, we mean:

• More opportunities for professional education and development

• More opportunities for networking

• More opportunities to experience in an intimate conference setting, the best the TMA and the Midwest has to offer

There will be many highlights this year in Cleveland, including the closing reception taking place at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I hope to see you there! •
