Melissa Mok
Director of Asset-Based Lending Originations
Truist Securities

In addition to a strong work ethic and talent for building strong relationships, as the director of asset-based lending originations for Truist Securities, Melissa Mok takes ownership of roles and exceeds expectations while seeking new opportunities to continue to grow. Since joining Truist in 2014 after working with Deloitte, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, she has originated and syndicated asset-based lending facilities across numerous industry verticals, including industrials, consumer, energy, financial services and technology, media and telecommunications.

“Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to touch all aspects of ABL, from field exam, underwriting, portfolio management, workouts and originations,” Mok says. “Some of the most interesting times of my career were workouts through the financial crisis and gaining industry specialization as well as a broader capital markets knowledge via working with the investment bank. I’m incredibly grateful to my mentors and advocates; these relationships have transformed my career.”

In the last year, Mok has developed a business plan and lending guidelines for a new industry vertical. She is also a member of Truist’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, providing valuable insights on important topics, such as building an inclusive culture with differing perspectives and living Truist’s purpose in its communities. She also serves as both a formal and informal mentor to new ABL team members.

“I enjoy the ever-changing market dynamics and challenge of originations while working collectively with a team to deliver the right solution for the client,” Mok says. “I also look forward to continuing to mentor and advocate for the newest members of the ABL industry. I’ve been fortunate enough to benefit from some great mentors in my career and believe it’s important to pay it forward to the next generation.”
