The Asset Based Finance Department is headquartered in Baltimore with corporate-wide responsibility for underwriting and managing asset based loans. ABF works closely with the Middle Market relationship managers in their efforts to source ABF opportunities within the M&T footprint generally defined as New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Northern Virginia. ABF finances a broad range of situations including turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, buy-outs and growth capital. Transactions range from $5mm to $50mm and ABF works with M&T's Debt Capital Markets group to underwrite and syndicate larger deals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
New Business Development- work with middle market lenders to source and qualify ABL clients
Screening- review the transaction and prepare screening memo with recommended structure
Proposal- develop proposals and negotiate with prospective clients
Underwriting- develop the credit underwriting package by working closely with our Loan Analysis unit and present formal underwriting package to the appropriate Loan Committee to obtain approval
Loan Closing- work closely with management and outside attorney to review and negotiate loan documentation
Portfolio Management- Review financial and collateral information and discuss issues at monthly portfolio review meeting; work with management on amendments, waivers and restructurings
Qualification and Skills:
Candidate should demonstrate interpersonal skills required to be successful in a collaborative team oriented environment working closing with ABF management and Middle Market staff
Strong credit skills to assess and underwrite complex transactions; attention to detail and financial and collateral skills to manage the portfolio risk.
Minimum 4 year college degree with emphasis in Finance or Accounting
Minimum 10 years of experience in a financial or accounting position with a minimum of 5 years of ABL experience
