Private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital announced that Jude Thompson has joined its newly formed executive advisory board. Thompson was most recently president and co-CEO of Papa John’s International, the world’s third largest pizza company.

Previously, Thompson held several leadership roles at WellPoint and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, most recently as divisional president. In this role, he was responsible for management of the company’s individual business unit in the 14 states served by WellPoint, which generated more than $5 billion in revenue.

Thompson is a board member of Central Bank & Trust Company of Jefferson County, ISCO Industries and Delta Dental of Kentucky. He also has held directorships at several other organizations, including Lindsey Wilson College, Health Enterprise Network, Boy Scouts of America, Greater Louisville, Inc., Louisville Community Initiative, Community Foundation of Louisville, and Greater Louisville Sports Commission.

“Jude is recognized as an expert in delivering revenue in untraditional ways. His perspective will allow us to think differently about revenue growth across our portfolio,” notes John Hatherly, founding partner of Wynnchurch. “His skill and experience set align with the key tenets of our value construction model, and in particular, identifying organic growth opportunities through new go-to-market sales and marketing strategies along with new product development initiatives.”
