In an article posted on BankDirector.com, a panel of five bank attorneys were asked to comment on the likelihood that international players would become potential acquirers of U.S. banks over the next two to three years.

Each of the panelists offered interesting insights, i.e., some think foreign acquisitions won’t be popular for years to come while others shared their thoughts on where they think the most probable players will come from.

The exercise was predicated on the May announcement from the Fed that it conferred Comprehensive Consolidated Supervision status to three state-owned Chinese banks, which opens the door for these banks to enter commercial banking in the U.S.
