The M&A Advisor announced that Leonard M. Tannenbaum, CEO of Fifth Street Management, is a recipient of the 2013 M&A Advisor Leadership Award. Tannenbaum will be honored for his contribution to the advancement of middle market M&A at the 12th Annual M&A Advisor Awards Gala on December 17, 2013 in New York City.

Since founding his first private investment firm in 1998, Tannenbaum has founded a number of private investment firms, including Fifth Street Capital, and he has served as managing member of each firm. In addition to serving as chairman of the board of directors for publicly traded Fifth Street Finance and Fifth Street Senior Floating Rate, Tannenbaum serves on the board of directors of several Greenlight Capital-affiliated entities and has previously served on the boards of directors of several other companies, including Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Assisted Living Concepts, and WesTower Communications.

A featured speaker at industry conferences, he is a regular contributor to leading business and finance industry media on the subjects of business lending and macroeconomics. He was named one of “America’s 20 Most Powerful CEOs 40 and Under” by Forbes in 2012 and is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

In addition to his business accomplishments, through his corporate and personal foundations, he continuously supports a number of nationally recognized charitable organizations, including The Robin Hood Foundation, Kids in Crisis, United Way and the American Red Cross. Tannenbaum is especially passionate about helping the state of Connecticut where he currently resides with his wife and three children. In addition to supporting organizations such as Junior Achievement, the Greater Stamford Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and serving as a Senior Advisor to the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, he also founded a bipartisan political action committee in 2012, Keeping America Competitive, which is particularly focused on helping CT-based small businesses succeed.

“We are honored to present Mr. Tannenbaum with the M&A Advisor Leadership Award for his contributions to the M&A industry,” stated David Fergusson, president of The M&A Advisor. “Len’s establishment of Fifth Street as one of the country’s leading lenders to small to mid-sized organizations has benefitted our industry and all of its participants.”
