Capstone Advisory Group, LLC announced that David C. Shapiro has joined the firm’s Chicago office as executive director and head of Restructuring for the Midwest region.

Shapiro has an extensive background in loan workout and restructuring, having previously worked as an investment banker focused exclusively on restructuring matters and as a commercial banker in loan workout, portfolio management, and risk. His experience includes work with both public and private companies in the areas of refinancing, workout, restructuring and turnaround, and bankruptcy.

Before joining Capstone, Shapiro was employed by Houlihan Lokey Capital, where he was a senior vice president in the Chicago office of Houlihan’s Financial Restructuring Group. There, he advised on matters for both debtors and creditors, both in and out of bankruptcy. Previously, Shapiro worked for both Bank of America and LaSalle Bank as a senior vice president in their Special Assets Groups, where he managed distressed syndicated loan transactions. Shapiro’s experience also includes employment with the private placements group at Prudential Financial, where he worked as a loan originator, portfolio manager, and risk officer.

Shapiro holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Muhlenberg College and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance from Lehigh University.
