John Schmidt will lead Wells Fargo Capital Finance’s new originations team for its Supply Chain Finance Group. Schmidt will report to Scott Diehl, head of Global Capital Solutions. The new team was formed following WFCF’s acquisition of GE Capital’s Commercial Finance business.

Schmidt is a former co-founder and managing partner at Castle Pines Capital, which was acquired by Wells Fargo in 2011.

Schmidt named Steve Hopkins, Mike Marcolina and Daniel Pfeiffer to the Supply Chain Finance origination group’s leadership team. The three have a combined 63 years of industry experience.

Denver-based Hopkins will lead the channel finance team’s vendor originations side. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Hopkins served as director of Global Channel Financing for Cisco Systems.

Atlanta-based Marcolina will lead business development for the channel finance team. Marcolina was previously the sales team leader for GE’s Commercial Distribution Finance Technology team.

Florida-based Pfeiffer will lead the Supply Chain Finance sales team for the Supplier Finance and Key Accounts purchase programs. Before joining Wells Faro, Pfeiffer worked at financial supply chain company Taulia and was a director of treasury and trade solutions at Citibank.

Wells Fargo’s Supply Chain Finance Group consists of three products: Channel Finance, Supplier Finance and Sales Finance. The group will provide working capital financing products for those in the technology, manufacturing, distribution, retail, consumer products, aerospace, automotive and energy product industries.

Since acquiring GE Capital’s Commercial Finance business, Wells Fargo Capital Finance has become the largest channel finance provider in North America.
