The Royal Bank of Scotland  announced the appointment of Agness Nairn as the head of its Asset-Based lending team in Scotland. Agness will be responsible for a team focused on originating asset-based lending (ABL) for Scottish corporate and SMEs.

Agness joins the asset-based lending team after working as coverage director for Royal Bank of Scotland’s Corporate banking team based in Glasgow. She has over 20 years’ experience gained across corporate and business development roles within the bank and is also a qualified chartered accountant. Agness will be based in the bank’s Glasgow office and will work in collaboration with financial sponsors, debt advisors and Royal Bank of Scotland relationship management banking teams.

Agness Nairn, head of Asset-Based lending in Scotland said: “The Asset Based Lending team in Scotland delivers and services funding facilities to a wide variety of businesses with a turnover above £10million. It is an exciting time to join the team because there is a new sense of awareness around ABL and as a result we are looking to add new members to strengthen our ABL offering further.

“Finance directors and business leaders are increasingly attuned to the flexibility of ABL and finding it is a prudent and agile way of financing their business needs. As well as accounts receivable, many businesses have a considerable amount of capital tied up in physical assets, such as inventory, plant and machinery, and property. ABL liberates the cash held within these assets, thereby giving fast access to substantial sums of working capital. I am looking forward to working with new and existing clients of the bank as well as intermediaries to support growth with this flexible form of funding.”
