Prudential Capital Group appointed Bill Engelking to head its Chicago office. Prudential Capital Group, a source of private capital for middle-market, public and private companies, is an investment business of Prudential Financial, Inc..

As managing director, Engelking, who joined Prudential in 1997, leads an office responsible for originating, marketing and managing private placement and mezzanine investments in the company’s U.S. Midwest territory. He also manages an existing $5.4 billion portfolio of senior debt, mezzanine debt and private equity investments.

He previously served as senior vice president responsible for the Chicago-based territories of Iowa and Wisconsin. Engelking, who earned a Bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, will report directly to Scott von Fischer, a managing director and newly appointed co-head of U.S. corporate finance.

“Bill’s extensive experience is a valuable asset in overseeing the Midwest territory. His knowledge of the business and the region ideally suits him to lead this office. We are pleased to have him,” von Fischer said.

His promotion comes as part of the company’s strategy to position its U.S. regional corporate finance platform for expansion, first announced on Jan. 31, 2012.
