The Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (Chicago/Midwest TMA) announced Mike McAvoy, president, The Onion, will keynote its upcoming luncheon on March 26.

McAvoy will provide an engaging presentation about the impact of the restructuring of his Chicago-based company and that the shift to a 100% digital format has set his positioned it for immediate and long-term growth. He will also share some entertaining thoughts consistent with his organization’s lighthearted media content.

McAvoy has been president of The Onion since 2008. In this role he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of both The Onion and its sister publication, The A.V. Club. Other responsibilities include direct oversight of the company’s advertising, product development, technology and finance departments, and The Onion’s in-house creative services department, Onion Labs.
