Billy Moore will become the CFO of Grant Thornton, effective Aug. 1. He will succeed Russ Wieman upon his retirement from the firm.

In his new role, Moore will be responsible for the finance and accounting operations of the firm. He has significant experience with financial reporting, strategic planning and budgeting, working capital and supply chain management, debt and equity financing, mergers and acquisitions, treasury and credit management, tax planning and oversight of information systems and internal audit functions.

“Billy brings to this role more than 30 years of industry experience coupled with proven leadership and extensive operational and financial insight,” said J. Michael McGuire, CEO of Grant Thornton. “He will be instrumental to the growth of the firm and will build on the momentum that Russ established during his tenure, during which Grant Thornton achieved the strongest financial condition in its history.”

Currently, Moore serves as the Professional Standards partner for the firm’s Carolinas practice, which includes offices in Charlotte and Raleigh, NC, and Columbia, SC.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton in 2009, Moore served for 15 years as the EVP and CFO of several publicly traded multinational companies, including Unifi, Polymer Group and International Textile Group. In addition, he spent nearly 20 years with Ernst & Young in numerous roles of increasing responsibility, including audit partner and managing partner of several offices.

Moore is a certified public accountant in North Carolina and South Carolina and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
