Nathan A. Haynes, a shareholder in the New York office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been selected as one of the Eastern region’s top 40 leading M&A, financing and turnaround professionals under 40 by The M&A Advisor. In addition, The M&A Advisor named Michael D. Helsel, also a shareholder in the firm’s New York office, as one of 20 finalists for the list.

The M&A Advisor announced its third annual “40 under 40” list on Monday, March 26. The winners and finalists were chosen for their accomplishments and expertise from a pool of prominent nominees by an independent judging panel of business leaders. The M&A Advisor created the recognition awards program to promote mentorship and professional development among emerging business leaders.

Haynes is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Business Reorganization & Financial Restructuring Practice. He represents parties in complex financial and operational corporate restructurings both in and out of court. Helsel is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Corporate & Securities Practice. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, including the representation of principals and financial advisors in public and private M&A transactions.

Haynes and Helsel join Jaret Davis, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, who was named to The M&A Advisor’s “40 under 40” list last year. On May 3, The M&A Advisor will host a black tie Awards Gala at The Lighthouse on the waterfront at Pier 61 in New York City to introduce this year’s “40 under 40” winners and finalists to the business community and celebrate their achievements.

In addition to being recognized for its emerging leaders in the M&A arena, Greenberg Traurig ranks among the top M&A advisors in a number of categories and jurisdictions according to league table reports published by Mergermarket, Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. Greenberg Traurig ranked as a Top 20 firm for announced U.S. M&A transactions in 2011 according to Bloomberg Global Legal Advisory M&A Rankings 2011, and advised on two of the Top 10 M&A deals in 2011 according to Mergermarket’s Full-Year 2011 M&A League Tables.
