Bloomberg reported that global banking regulators scaled back plans to boost capital requirements for banks holding asset-backed bonds after lenders warned that initial plans were too harsh and would have curtailed lending.

Bloomberg said further The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision said banks could face a minimum capital requirement of 15% for securitizations, rather than the 20% proposed last year, and it changed some assumptions used to calculate risk leading to “meaningful reductions in capital requirements” compared with earlier plans.
