Lazard has promoted David Kurtz to head of the Global Restructuring Group, a Wall Street Journal article reported. Kurtz has been with the company for almost a decade. Kurtz has been advising Dynergy in its bankruptcy proceedings and will continue to work out of the Chicago office, the article said.

The article added that the announcement was made to employees via a memo on Friday, January 13.

Previously, he was a senior partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He joined Lazard in 2002.

Lazard has been advising some of the more high-profile bankruptcies including American Airlines’ parent company, Hostess Brands and NewPage as well as Kodak.
