The global law firm Jones Day added Emily Leitch to its capital markets practice as a partner in its Houston office.

A lawyer with experience in complex transactions, Leitch counsels clients on capital markets activities, corporate governance matters, securities law compliance, M&A and financial restructurings. Her experience includes initial public offerings, private investment in public equity transactions (PIPEs) and other public and private offerings of common and preferred equity securities.

“Emily is a great addition to what is already a very successful team in Houston,” said Christopher Kelly, who co-leads Jones Day’s global capital markets practice. “In particular, her experience in the energy sector will make her an immediate, valuable resource for the firm’s clients with interests in that industry. We are very happy she’s joining Jones Day and look forward to her contributions.”

Leitch has represented both buyers and sellers in a broad range of M&A transactions, including stock and asset purchases and sales, joint ventures and private equity investments. Her recent matters include the representation of Parsley Energy in its acquisition of undeveloped acreage and production in the Permian Basin from Double Eagle Energy Permian and the representation of Noble Energy in its acquisition of Clayton Williams Energy.

Leitch has been recognized by The Legal 500 United States — capital markets: debt offerings and equity offerings (2016), The Houston Business Journal, Women Who Mean Business — Women to Watch (2016) and as a “Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers.
