McDermott Will & Emery announced that leading corporate dealmaker Brian Hoffmann has rejoined the firm as a partner based in its New York office. Hoffmann, who was previously co-chair of the M&A practice in the Americas at another international law firm, has more than 30 years of experience advising clients on dozens of public and private transactions.

Hoffmann advises clients on a broad range of complex corporate matters, including hostile takeovers, proxy fights, sales and divestitures, cross-border transactions, management and leveraged buyouts, acquisitions of distressed companies and domestic and international capital markets fundraising activities. He has represented acquirers, targets, financial advisors, boards of directors, special committees and other parties across numerous industry sectors, including consumer goods, energy, healthcare, life sciences, technology, media and telecommunications.

Hoffmann frequently lectures at industry conferences and programs and publishes articles on issues relating to mergers and acquisitions.

From 1995 to 1999, Hoffmann was a partner in McDermott’s corporate practice in New York.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Brian back to McDermott,” said David Goldman, partner and head of the firm’s Corporate Advisory Practice Group. “Having worked with him previously, we are well aware of the strong commitment, strategic vision and high degree of excellence Brian brings to all of his client work. His long history leading sophisticated corporate transactions, including public mergers and acquisitions, will enable us to meet growing demand from clients all over the world.”

“I look forward to rejoining my friends at McDermott and taking advantage of the firm’s extensive domestic platform and cross-border capabilities,” said Hoffmann. “I’m excited to work with my new colleagues as the Firm proceeds with its strategic growth plan.”

Hoffmann received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

McDermott Will & Emery’s Corporate practice represents a wide spectrum of business interests around the world, from global corporations and industry leading companies to privately funded and entrepreneurial driven enterprises, as well as the financial institutions that support them.
