Michael Keefe, president and CEO, Hilco Merchant Resources, LLC, (HMR) a retail inventory disposition firm, announced the appointment of Matthew Wood to senior vice president, Financial Operations.

Wood, who has been with HMR for 11 years, will manage personnel, infrastructure, training, reconciliations and client relationships as they relate to HMR transactions. He will collaborate with Keefe and others to define or recalibrate operating strategies for retail inventory liquidations and identify data needs from HMR clients that will be used to facilitate the day-to-day operations of each transaction. Wood will oversee all field functions as they relate to financial reporting and compliance to ensure transaction integrity. In addition to his interactions with internal HMR professionals and clients, he will also interface with senior level retail executives, financial professionals, lawyers, turnabout and restructuring experts, private equity firms, banks and other constituents involved in retail inventory dispositions.

Wood has over 15 years of financial experience, 11 years of which have been focused on the liquidation industry. Prior to joining Hilco Merchant Resources, he held several positions within the public accounting industry. Over the last 11 years, Wood has developed best practices for maximizing the return on retail assets across a wide range of inventory categories in both distressed and healthy retail environments. He is responsible for reviewing and creating operating strategies for the maximization of financial returns across all HMR transactions. Wood is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a BA in Finance.
