Hilco Global announced its most recent addition to its management team.

Effective May 1, 2014, Jack Butler will join the company’s global organization as executive vice president. Butler will have specific responsibility for continuing to drive the growth and expansion of Hilco’s client base around the world. He will work closely with Jeffery B. Hecktman, chairman and CEO, and the company’s executive leaders at each business unit.

Butler joins from Skadden, an international law firm that he joined in 1990 to help found the firm’s now preeminent corporate restructuring practice and where he was a practice leader for 23 years.

Butler spent the last several years advising unsecured creditors in American Airlines’ reorganization and its $18 billion merger with US Airways Group, which was completed in December.

During his career, Butler has advised global businesses in hundreds of cross-border restructurings, financing and privatization transactions, and helped acquire and/or divest various business lines and entities. He was named one of the decade’s most influential lawyers by The National Law Journal, and has been inducted into the M&A Advisors’ Hall of Fame and the Turnaround, Restructuring and Distressed Investing Industry Hall of Fame.
