Europe’s Banks Raising Capital to Meet Basel III

The Financial Times reported that after a dearth of equity raising from banks over the past year or so, cash calls all of a sudden seem to be the fashion of the day.

The Times notes that banks in Germany and Greece are raising equity by issuing new shares from investors, which may be the start of a rush to boost capital levels and get ahead of the incoming Basel III regulations.
