Zachary H. Smith, a special counsel in Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft’s Financial Restructuring Department, was selected as one of 12 “Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers” by Turnarounds & Workouts, a newsletter tracking distressed businesses in the United States and Canada.

The recognition comes on the heels of Smith’s recent selection by Law360 as one of five “Rising Stars” under the age of 40 to watch in the area of bankruptcy and financial restructuring.

Smith was recognized by Turnarounds & Workouts for his work on several high profile Chapter 11 matters, including serving as lead counsel to Vertis Communications in a complex restructuring and §363 sale, and his role in several restructuring transactions in Puerto Rico and Caribbean distressed markets.

Concentrating his practice in the areas of bankruptcy and distressed situations, Smith represents debtors, creditors, lenders and strategic investors in in-court and out-of-court restructurings. He is also a part-time faculty member at Boston University School of Law, and a frequent lecturer and author on restructuring topics.

Smith received his A.B., cum laude, from Harvard University and his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law.
