Theodore W. Bernstein, JD, MBA, MPH joined Chapman Associates, a mergers and acquisitions advisor headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, as a managing director of Mergers & Acquisitions.

Bernstein brings more than 25 years of deal-making, executive management and Wall Street experience. Bernstein’s focus at Chapman will be to provide value-added M&A services to clients in healthcare and related businesses on a nationwide basis.

Prior to joining Chapman Associates, Bernstein was a managing partner of N-Squared Growth Capital, a New York-based private equity firm focused primarily on healthcare services and technology/business services. He concentrated on opportunity origination, deal negotiation and execution, due diligence, regulatory matters, capital sourcing and managing operating partner and subject matter expert relationships. In addition to his transaction expertise, Bernstein has healthcare investing know-how as a principal, portfolio manager and securities analyst gained at several hedge funds, including Avenue Capital Group.

Prior to his buy-side work in alternative asset management, Bernstein was a managing director at Wasserstein Perella, where he provided sell-side research coverage of the healthcare universe and selected food and other retailers to institutional investors. Before entering his career in finance, Bernstein acquired transaction acumen as an attorney, primarily at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he concentrated on financing healthcare and technology companies through the public markets. Bernstein began his operating executive career in healthcare as an administrative fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital.
