BB&T named Travis Rhodes president of its Delaware Valley Region, which includes markets in Philadelphia and surrounding Pennsylvania and New Jersey counties. Rhodes will succeed Scott Gamble, who is retiring after a 34-year banking career.

“We are delighted to have Travis step into this leadership position,” said David Weaver, president of BB&T Community Banking. “This is an important region for BB&T and his exceptional banking experience coupled with his highly personal approach will be an asset for our growth strategy.”

Rhodes has more than 24 years of banking experience. He joined BB&T in 1999 as a financial center leader in Winston-Salem, NC. From 2001 to 2008, he held several positions within BB&T’s Triad region, including business banker, business services officer and regional corporate banking officer. In 2012, he relocated to Charlotte, NC, as a corporate banking manager.

Gamble joined BB&T through the merger of Susquehanna Bank in 2015 where he held the same position. Prior to joining Susquehanna, he was president of National Penn’s Southern region, which covered southern Montgomery, Philadelphia, Chester and Delaware counties in Pennsylvania.

“Scott established an outstanding banking career that is well-known throughout the region,” Weaver said. “He has played an integral role in the financial services industry in Pennsylvania and we wish him well in his retirement.”
