Jim Barratt will join Ankura Consulting’s Washington D.C. office as managing director in the firm’s Investigations and Accounting Advisory practice.

He brings more than 30 years of experience managing projects involving corporate fraud, compliance, anti-corruption and accounting enforcement proceedings brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice.

In the area of compliance and anti-corruption, Barratt has international experience performing compliance reviews, risk assessments and independent monitor support. During his career, he has assisted a variety of companies in China, Brazil, India, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Singapore and locations throughout Europe. He has also advised companies and their counsel on profit disgorgement analyses and approaches to government settlements related to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations. He developed a corporate compliance function while serving as the interim chief compliance officer of a $600 million global manufacturing company facing a DOJ FCPA investigation.

Barratt is also a seasoned practitioner in securities, regulatory and financial fraud matters, gaining experience both during his six years of service on the accounting staff of the SEC’s Enforcement Division and in private practice as a consultant. During his career, he has led numerous forensic accounting investigations, and has advised legal counsel in communicating investigation findings to audit committees, SEC and DOJ staff and congressional committees.

In addition to his SEC experience, prior to joining Ankura, Barratt had more than 25 years of forensic accounting and compliance experience at international consulting firms, as an auditor and consultant with a big four firm.
