AlixPartners announced that Lian Hoon Lim has joined the firm’s Enterprise Improvement group as a managing director. Lim, who will be based in AlixPartners’ Hong Kong office, has deep experience working with global and regional manufacturing companies and their supply chains in China and throughout Asia. He also has broad experience in global transportation and logistics.

Lim joins AlixPartners from Singapore-based global container-shipper and logistics company Neptune Orient Lines, where he had been senior vice president of group strategy and planning since 2010. His responsibilities there included heading global strategy and planning for NOL’s two major subsidiaries — APL, the seventh-largest container-shipping line in the world, and APL Logistics. He was also heavily involved in developing and implementing major operations-streamlining initiatives for reducing costs at APL in a challenging market.

Earlier in his career, Lim was the head of the Hong Kong office of A.T. Kearney, where he focused on global supply-chain and manufacturing operations in Asia. This included offshoring of manufacturing, low-cost-country procurement, outsourcing and acquisitions of operations across industries, including electronics, automotive, industrial goods, consumer goods and chemicals.

Prior to that, he spent eight years in industry managing manufacturing operations, and was involved in relocations of operations to Asia in the electronics and electrical-equipment industries.

Fred Crawford, CEO of AlixPartners, said, “Asia is a key part of our global network, and the addition of Lian Hoon further complements AlixPartners’ offerings in this region. As growth has slowed in China and other parts of Asia, we look for increasing demand for AlixPartners’ unique, results-oriented services – helping companies, owners and other stakeholders thrive during periods of rapid change to build resilient organizations for the future, and Lian Hoon’s deep skills and experience fit perfectly with that promise to our clients.”
